White smoke hangs down as the glistening beans turn ebony. This is Starbucks French Roast, and you can’t roast it darker. Straightforward, light-bodied with low acidity, and immensely popular since 1971, the darkest roast is adored for its intense smokiness.

Starbucks sources 100% Arabica beans when crafting their coffee. Each coffee bean requires a unique balance of temperature and time to reach its individual peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. The French Roast is crafted with beans sourced from multiple regions—Latin America and Asia-Pacific. The blending of beans from varied regions results in unique flavor combinations.
